Transforming the Lives of Cats in Paros & Antiparos

Our Community Cat Care project is an innovative initiative dedicated to improving the welfare of free-roaming cats on the Cycladic islands of Paros and Antiparos. As the largest cat population management project in Greece, this program is built on a comprehensive approach that not only addresses population control but also enhances the health, safety, and acceptance of community cats within our islands.

What We Do: Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR)

Through our Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) method, we aim to create a healthier, stable population of cats that can peacefully coexist within local communities. Here’s how TNVR works:

Trap

We safely capture stray or feral cats using humane traps, enabling us to transport them for veterinary care without harm or stress.

Neuter

Neutering or spaying each cat helps to control the population by preventing reproduction, reducing health risks, and minimizing behaviors like spraying and fighting.

Vaccinate

Every cat we treat receives vaccinations to protect against common diseases, ensuring healthier cats and a safer environment for both animals and people.

Return

Once treated, the cats are returned to their original location, healthier and better suited to thrive in their environment, supporting a balanced and controlled cat population.

Why It Matters

Our project benefits not only the cats but also the residents and visitors of Paros and Antiparos. By managing the cat population in a humane and sustainable way, we help reduce nuisance behaviors, prevent the spread of disease, and promote a cleaner and more harmonious environment. This is a community effort, one that we believe reflects the values of philoxenia – a deep-rooted Greek spirit of hospitality and kindness – extended to every living being on our islands.

Join Us in Making a Difference
